SO HERE WE GO !

1) Hatching

Hatching involves usage of a multitude of lines to make a shade-like appeal to the drawing. These lines are more or less parallel and equidistant from each other and hence they enhance the uniformity of your artwork. The activity given below will help you to increase your speed and efficiency of hatching:

Step 1)Make a long triangular box
Step 2)Highlight the borders with a permanent marker and mark the divisions as given in the diagrams below
Step 3)If you have problems in detailed hatching, start from the left and end hatching to the right
Step 4)If you have problems to hatch in wider areas, then start from the right and end up in the left
Step 5)This exercise will help you to develop a greater sense of understanding the hatching patterns. (you can try cross-hatching also with the same process)

2) Shading

Shading involves uses of dark shades in your artwork  so as to induce a sense of vibrancy to your subject. Shading adds shadows to your artwork, which is an essential element for realistic artwork as there shading various parts of the subject will often make your subject standout! Therefore, to practice shading, I'll show you the following activity-

Step 1)Make a long rectangular box
Step 2)Highlight the borders with a permanent marker and mark the divisions as given in the diagrams below
Step 3) Start by using your suitable graphite pencil from the box named 'black' and continue till you reach the top-most box.
Step 4) Start by pressing the pencil a bit hard on the surface of the paper to make the shade appear darker.
Step 5) Follow up by reducing the pressure as you move up!

3) Grid making

Grid making involves using a rectangular box as a whole and dividing it into small grids. You can draw in these grids so as to improve your detailing skills. It will also help you attain a stronghold on the pencil you use! Therefore, to improve your overall skills with a limited amount of space for detailing, I'll show you how this activity works ;

Step 1)Make a long rectangular box
Step 2)Highlight the borders with a permanent marker and mark the divisions as given in the diagrams below
Step 3) Start by using your suitable graphite pencil for drawing on various boxes.
